WIP meme
borrowed from
cinnamon_sakaki, the works in progress meme:
Post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will strike.
If I did every one I have lying about, we'd be here a while, so I'll just stick to what I find on my hard drive. I probably haven't seen some of this stuff since I wrote it...
Let's see what's in the Harry Potter folder first, shall we?
*Post DH spoiler
A young Teddy Lupin searches for answers about what his father was like. While his grandmother and Minister Shacklebolt have helped fill in a lot of the blanks about the brave and funny lady who was his mother, it doesn't seem like there are a lot of people still living who truly knew Remus Lupin.
A postcard is discovered with the address of Lupin's last known residence, in Wales, and when his beloved "Auntie Luna" just happens to be going there to observe a rare magical creature...
* A typical R/S fluff bit that's gathered a year's worth of dust: “Whatcha' doing, Moony?” he asked, shuffling closer and sitting beside him.
“Um, reading?” Remus said, pretending to be completely absorbed in what, to his chagrin, turned out to be a knitting manual. He didn't feel like being in close proximity to Sirius right now. Not whenever the reason for his early awakening was coming back to him in small flashes of feeling. He'd had another of those dreams.
Remus chanced a quick glance up, to find Sirius staring back at him, leaning back against the window sill with his arms crossed and the usual smirk pulling at his lips. He shut the book, knowing it was of little use to attempt to ignore him.
“So who did it? Was it the butler?” Sirius asked, stretching.
“Yes, Sirius. A butler murdered someone for no apparent reason in a book on knitting,” Remus said. Sirius glanced down at the book, stiffling a yawn.
“Taken up knitting then, Moony? You would look cute, you know, clacking away with yarn and needles by the common room fire,” Sirius said with a grin. “You could make James a broom cozy.” Remus laid the book aside, smiling slightly.
“Git,” he muttered. Sirius reached out and ruffled Remus' already bed mussed hair, and began to walk towards the kitchen.
*The AU where Remus is a malnourished waif caught rifling through the trash at the Black estate, that you may recall from ages ago. I had written a second chapter, but the file seems to have been saved in some weird format that my computer refuses to read. ^o^
*melandry prompted me to write R/S with them as muggle elementary school teachers. I started two versions before stopping.
“Look. I'll think about it all right? You've got to understand, Sirius. I don't look at employment as a new adventure. I need this job, and I'm lucky to have finally gotten on at this school. If I put in a word for you, not only do I need you to behave, you need to at least stay out the year. Do you understand?” Remus asked, his eyes fixed steadily on his friend's.
“Of course!” Sirius exclaimed. “I really have a good feeling about this one, Remus. When you told me about the job opening, it just felt like it was the perfect opportunity. And heck, what's a year? I've put in that long at much more boring jobs, right?”
“I believe your six months delivering pizzas has set the record so far,” Remus said. Sirius' face fell slightly.
“Is that all?” Sirius asked, then shook his head, brightening again. “But this will be different, Remus, I just know it.”
Gravitation folder:
*Tohma observes various other characters. I have no idea where I was going with this one.
But it is nothing so unique in this little kingdom of dashed hopes and suppressed desires I have constructed like some memorial to my own unfulfilled dreams. Is there truly any occupant of this web of persons who is not spinning themselves a facade from the same common thread to mask their disappointments?
Perhaps Shindou. Is it ignorance or an innate wisdom that causes him to walk so naked among us? Yes, there is a begrudging admiration within myself for this child. After all, he has made more progress to correct my greatest failure by stumbling than I have with all my most carefully constructed plans.
*A Hiro/Suguru fic, which heavily features friendship between Hiro and Ryuichi.
. He pulled it down, looking curiously at the crayon written flyer.
Attention! Some meanie has kidnapped Kumagoro! Or maybe Kumagoro got lost. He might still be hiding, because we were playing hide and seek when he went missing. But if you see him, tell him to report to Sakuma Ryuichi immediately! He’s probably hungry by now!
- Sakuma Ryuichi
The message was written beneath a cartoonish drawing in pink crayon that was covered in glitter, and listed the rabbit's vital statistics, including weight and eye color.
Hiro felt a sinking pang of guilt in his stomach. He'd forgotten all about having Ryuichi's bunny.
* In the tradition of such crack humor tales as "Fan Service", a story in which Shuichi and Yuki have their own sex tape scandal.
Yami:
*I wrote a second chapter to "Letting Go", where Hisoka finds out about Tsuzuki sleeping with Hijiri.
*A very dark TsuSoka fic that I didn't like...
*And, of course, "Illuminating the Darkness". Chapter 12 is at 1500 words.
I'm going to leave it at that, because this is getting too long. There are few things started for other fandoms, and all of my original work is hand written in notebooks, but you get the jist. What I don't finish will be recycled, but hopefully at least one of these will make it to "the end" one day.
